Seeking Social Media Success?

You were mulling over taking your business online and then Covid struck and you felt you had no choice, so you chose the social media platform you'd kept hearing so much about, stuck up some photos and hoped for the best.

Now you’re wondering what all the hype was all about because no one’s looking at them and you haven’t a clue how to entice people into taking a peek. Everyone’s telling you to do something different and quite frankly, you’re feeling completely overwhelmed and haven’t a clue were to start. Sound like you? Then this article is for you.

Basically there are five simple steps you can take to get some attention from potential customers and to start creating a buzz around your business.

1. Get in Tune

If you want to reach your ideal client then you’re going to have to work out who they are. You need to know what they care about, what their needs are and how you can help them. It’s good to be clear on this so that you don’t waste your time attracting and chasing people who will never be interested in what you have to offer.

2. Be a Good Use of Time

The bombardment and overload of information and memes and holiday updates is real so you need to make sure that your social media feed becomes a must see for your ideal clients. Make sure what you post really resonates with them and keeps them coming back for more.

Put yourself in their shoes, work out how you can help them and focus on helping them to the best of your ability.

3. Be Social

It’s not called anti-social media! No matter how much of a hermit you really are, this is where you can connect with other like-minded people and show them the value of what you do. There’s no point talking to yourself, and the reality is that there are probably plenty of people out there feeling just the same as you. Be brave and join in.

4. Plan Your Time

It’s easy to drown in the vast list of priorities Social Media throws at you. Drowning is not good. Don’t spread yourself too thin by trying to be on every platform you can think of. Be realistic about your priorities and stick to them. Make use of the scheduling tools available on the platforms and through independent apps such as Buffer, ContentCal and HubSpot etc. There are plenty to choose from, many with free options for those starting out.

5. Use Insights to Improve Your Performance

As a business you need to be making the most of the insights provided by the platforms to understand what’s really attracting the attention of your audience and what’s not. Different platforms offer different metrics but all enable you to hone down what you need to do more of as well as what you shouldn't be spending your time on.

There’s more to Social Media than you’d think, but these steps should help you get started on the journey from complete novice to competent user.
